Fever Medicines vanish off the market in Karachi

Anti-Fever medicines vanish from the market in Karachi. Brufen syrup and tablets have also vanished from pharmacies all around Karachi as viral fevers, such as dengue and malaria, are on the rise.

(Infosette News)KARACHI: Medications for common illnesses like fever have vanished from the market as waterborne and mosquito-borne sicknesses spread throughout Sindh, notably in Karachi, as a result of the recent heavy rains.

As the city reported as many as 192 additional instances of the dengue virus, details indicate that a shortage of medications for fever and diarrhoea has emerged in Karachi.

A single pack of Panadol tablets, according to the store owners, was selling for more than Rs1,000 in the wholesale market. The single pack, however, was going for Rs. 1,200 in medical stores.

Brufen syrup and tablets have also vanished from pharmacies all around Karachi as viral fevers, such as dengue and malaria, are on the rise.

It is important to note that dengue virus infections are still rising sharply across Sindh, especially Karachi, where the provincial capital has recorded as many as 192 more cases of the vector-borne virus illness.

The district Korangi continued to be the most afflicted, with 63 instances reported in a single day, followed by 45 cases from district East, 35 cases from district South, 26 cases from district Central, 14 cases from Malir, and six and three cases from Keamari and West, respectively.

After the majority of the province was submerged in floodwaters and metropolitan centres also experienced record rains during the monsoon, the Sindh administration asserted that it had taken steps to combat dengue fever in the region.
