Punjab By-Elections: Police To Arrest PTI’s Jamshed Iqbal Cheema

Infosette (Pakistan) In the midst of by-elections for 20 seats in the Punjab state, Lahore police have chosen to detain Police To Arrest PTI’s Jamshed Iqbal Cheema in Lahore. They are accusing him of being responsible for the injury of a PML-N activist at a polling location in PP-158.

After a case is filed against him, Jamshed Cheema will be detained, according to sources in the Lahore police. The CCPO Lahore stated, “No one will be permitted to take the law into their own hands.”

In the meantime, a sizable police presence around Jamshed Cheema’s workplace, which he shares with PTI Punjab President Dr. Yasmin Rashid. He added that the PML-N activist was hurt while speaking to the media because “rigging was occurring in a polling station at PP-158 when I intervened and sought to stop it.”

They should first take control of their home, she added, adding that two of their MPAs had quit.

Polling is Underway in 20 Constituencies 

Imran Khan and Maryam Nawaz, two of the PTI and PML-top N’s leaders, launched a frenzied campaign to support their candidates before the polls opened for the “do or die” by-elections in 20 Punjab Assembly districts.

Sunday will see the by-elections for the 20 Punjab Assembly seats that became vacant after the PTI MPAs supported Hamza Shahbaz in the Chief Minister (CM) elections (today).

The outcome of the by-elections would be crucial for the CM vote count in the Punjab Assembly in July 2022, which was mandated by the Supreme Court (SC).
