Alia Bhatt, one of India’s most popular actresses, is approaching the end of her ten-year career. She made her debut in Karan Johar’s directorial Student Of The Year, co-starring Sidharth Malhotra and Varun Dhawan, and gradually rose to prominence with films such as 2 States, Highway, Udta Punjab, Dear Zindagi, Raazi, Gully Boy, and most recently Gangubai Kathiawadi. The actress is pushing herself further and establishing a stronger grip in the film industry, having recently ventured into production with her label Eternal Sunshine Productions.
Alia Bhatt discussed politics in movies in an interview with Anupama Chopra on Film Companion while promoting her film Gully Boy with Ranveer Singh. Anupama inquired whether the use of specific political references or appeasing a segment of the audience with the type of content produced is something that is considered when making or promoting the film. Alia Bhatt responded that it was as simple as her portraying a drug addict in a film when she is not in real life. “I don’t have to match my character,” she explained. And neither of us (Ranveer and she) give off strong political vibes as actors.” Ranveer went on to say that he was apolitical by nature, and Alia agreed. she was apolitical.
“We understand that now is the time when anything you say can be blown up and perceived in a certain way,” Alia continued. Even defending oneself or speaking up for one’s beliefs can backfire. You believe what you believe in, and silence is golden. My main goal is to make good movies, be a good person, and avoid getting in trouble with the law.” Anupama, who was amused by Alia’s response, chuckled.
Alia’s last performance in Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s Gangubai Kathiawadi wowed everyone. The trailer for her much-anticipated film Brahmastra, co-starring Ranbir Kapoor, Amitabh Bachchan, Nagarjuna Akkineni, and Mouni Roy and directed by Ayan Mukerji, was recently released, and it has received positive feedback. The mythological fantasy drama will be released in theatres on September 9, 2022.
