The SECP registered 2000+ new companies in December 2022

In December 2022, 2,374 new businesses were registered with the Securities and Exchange Commission of Pakistan (SECP).

There are currently 183,744 firms that are registered in total.

According to a press release released here, these companies’ total capitalization (paid-up capital) for the current month is Rs4.1 billion.

There have been 85 new enterprises with declared foreign investment. Investors from countries like Afghanistan, Austria, Australia, Bangladesh, China, Egypt, Ethiopia, Germany, Indonesia, Iran, Japan, Lebanon, Malaysia, Romania, Russia, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, Turkey, the UK, USA, and Vietnam have invested in these enterprises. The majority of the investment came from China, which received 48 firms, followed by Germany with 5, Afghanistan, the UK, and the US with four each, Iran, South Africa, and two other nations, with 16 companies total.

In the final month of 2022, private limited companies made up approximately 56% of all registered businesses, while single-member corporations made up 41%.

The final 3% were public unlisted corporations, not-for-profit organisations, foreign firms, and limited liability partnerships that were registered (LLP). Online registration was used to register nearly 99.8% of businesses.

Most companies were registered in the real estate development and construction sector (427), followed by information technology (329), trading (292), services (216), education (104), tourism (104), food & beverage (89), e-commerce (82), corporate agricultural farming (63), textile (55), mining & quarrying (55), pharmaceutical (51), marketing & advertisement (50), and other sectors (452).

The integration of SECP with FBR and other provincial departments led to the registration of 2,172 firms with FBR for the generation of NTN, 60 companies with EOBI, 34 companies with PESSI/SESSI, and 37 companies with the excise and revenue department.

The SECP has also launched a specific WhatsApp facility for taking questions. With a 96% satisfaction score, responses were sent to roughly 1,382 WhatsApp questions from domestic and international investors on name availability and incorporation during the month of December 2022.
