Mari Petroleum Company Limited (MPCL), based in Karachi, has reported the discovery of gas reserves at the exploratory well Mari Ghazij-1, which is a part of the Mari Development and Production Lease (D&PL) in Sindh.
On November 24, 2022, the well was spudded, and it was successfully drilled all the way to a depth of 1,015 meters.
With a wellhead flowing pressure of 232 pounds per square inch (Psi) and a choke size of 64/64 inches, the gas flow rate determined by the drill stem test is 5.1 million standard cubic feet per day (MMSCFD).
According to a statement from the corporation, it intends to carefully assess this discovery to demonstrate its scope and, concurrently, assess its development alternatives.
The new reserves were discovered in an exploratory well that was spud-in on November 24, 2022, by MPCL, a subsidiary of the Fauji Foundation and one of the top oil and gas exploration companies in the nation.
This is the first oil and gas find of the current 2023 calendar year.
New oil and gas deposits were found in Sindh last month, and the Oil & Gas Development Company Limited (OGDCL) informed the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PSX) of the find in the Sanghar district.
This year’s oil and gas resource exploration was initiated by the OGDCL on June 26.
