On Friday night, senior journalist and columnist Ayaz Amir was allegedly attacked by unidentified assailants in Lahore.
Ayaz, who works for a local TV station, was attacked on his way home from his office in the provincial capital.
The attackers assaulted the senior columnist and took his belongings, including his cell phone.
Lashing out at the PTI chairman, the journalist claimed that people were told that the captain revolutionized the team during his cricketing days and so on.
“You handed over the country to property dealers,” Amir said to Khan, who responded with a smile.
Mujeeb-ur-Rehman Shami, senior journalist condemned the attack on Ayaz Amir. Mr. Shami described it as a challenge for the current authorities to find the perpetrators and punish them in accordance with the law.
Several journalists and TV pundits, including former Prime Minister Imran Khan, condemned the incident.
With violence and fabricated FIRs against journalists, politicians, and citizens, Pakistan has descended into the worst kind of fascism, according to Khan, who added that the state has lost all moral authority and is resorting to violence.
