Samsung UI Watch 4.5

Samsung UI Watch 4.5 is coming in Q3 with keyboard, dual-SIM support, and accessibility features

The Galaxy Watch4 and Watch4 Classic will soon receive Samsung UI Watch 4.5. It runs Google Wear OS 3.5. (this also means that the older Tizen-based Galaxy Watches are not getting it, in case you were wondering). This software will also be available on the “upcoming Galaxy Watch Series.”

The new version will improve the communication abilities of the watches. Previously, Gboard could be installed for typing and voice input; now, Samsung has prepared a new keyboard.

Swipe input, handwriting recognition, and voice dictation are all supported. Users will be able to seamlessly switch between input methods, for example, swiping provides more privacy if there are bystanders.

Furthermore, if you pair your Galaxy Watch with a dual-SIM Galaxy phone, you will be able to select which SIM is used when making a call from the watch (there is also a “Ask always” option). Please keep in mind that this is only for phone calls, not for watches with eSIM.

New accessibility features will also be added to One UI Watch 4.5. Users who have difficulty distinguishing certain colors will be able to adjust the screen’s hue and contrast.

They will also be able to reduce transparency and blur effects, as well as remove animations. If you connect a Bluetooth headset to the watch, you can adjust the left/right audio balance if you have trouble hearing with one ear.

The new software also allows you to slow things down, such as adjusting tap duration and ignoring repeated touches. Furthermore, functions that appear briefly on the screen (for example, volume and notification displays) can be made to stay longer.

All of the accessibility options will be accessible via a simple menu. With a double tap or a tap and hold, the Home button can be configured to launch your most frequently used features.

Samsung also enhanced the customization options. The new Favorites list allows you to save the best watch faces for quick access, and there’s a neat trick: you can save the same watch face multiple times, each time with a different theme and set of complications.

In the July-September quarter, the Galaxy Watch4 series will receive the One UI Watch 4.5 update. This is not an exhaustive list of all the new features; Samsung has other enhancements in the works that will be revealed in due course.
