Prince Harry’s first thoughts about future wife Meghan Markle revealed. Prince Harry and Suits star Meghan Markle began dating in 2016.
The Duke and Duchess of Sussex will celebrate their fifth wedding anniversary in May, but what was Prince Harry’s true reaction when he first saw American actress Meghan Markle?
While the couple recalled their first date in a six-part Netflix docuseries released in December, Harry described the first time he saw Meghan when he came across an Instagram video of Meghan and his friend, Violet von Westenholz, with a funny dog filter.

In his memoir, Spare, which was published in January, he stated: “My God, this woman with Violet. I watched the video several times before putting the phone down. Then I picked it up again and watched the video once more.
“I’d literally traveled the world from top to bottom. I’d hopped around the world. I’d met hundreds of thousands of people, a ludicrously large cross-section of the world’s seven billion inhabitants.
“I’d been watching a conveyor belt of faces pass by for thirty-two years, and only a few had ever made me look twice. The conveyor belt was stopped by this woman. The conveyor belt was smashed to bits by this woman. I’d never seen anyone so lovely.”
Harry and Meghan’s romance began with a series of Instagram direct messages and text messages, with the Suits star complimenting the Prince on his African photos: “Beautiful photographs.”
In an ironic twist, the pair’s first exchange occurred on what would have been Harry’s mother Princess Diana’s 55th birthday, July 1, 2016.
They set up a first date at Soho House on 76 Dean Street right away, and the rest, as they say, is history!
The Sussexes now live in Montecito, Santa Barbara, with their children, Archie, three, and Lilibet, one.
