(Infosette News) KARACHI: The National Electric Power Regulatory Authority (NEPRA) approved a 4.87 rupee per unit drop in the electricity rate on Thursday.

Today, a hearing was held to discuss K-request Electrics for a fuel adjustment under the direction of NEPRA Chairman Tauseef H. Farooqui.

K-Electric has sought a reduction of Rs4.21 per unit in the fuel adjustment for August, which will provide consumers with a relief of more than 7 billion rupees, according to the case officer NEPRA, who was present at the hearing.

According to him, K-Electric generates power at a cost of Rs 38 per unit, whereas the cost of the power it purchases is Rs 13.61 per unit.

Chairman NEPRA questioned K-Electric about its plans to lower the cost of producing power on this particular occasion.

Later, NEPRA approved the price cut for electricity, which was implemented in conjunction with the August monthly fuel adjustment.
