There were 24 passengers on board, two of them were travelling to Hyderabad via the Multan-Sukkur motorway and the remaining 22 to Karachi.

On the Multan-Sukkur Motorway (M-5), a passenger bus headed for Karachi collided with an oil tanker, resulting in at least 20 fatalities and six injuries.

Overspeeding, according to highway authorities, was to blame for the collision.

According to Motorway officials, the crash occurred when the speeding sleeper bus lost control and hit an oncoming oil tanker. Traffic remained suspended on the accident spot at M-5 Motorway for several hours.

According to the Motorway Police spokesperson, the oil tanker and the bus took fire shortly after the incident.

As soon as the accident occurred, Motorway Police officers arrived on the scene. Rescue 1122 teams and the local police both arrived at the scene.

The official claimed that the fire could be seen from a mile since it was so frightening and fierce.

The majority of the passengers were pulled out of the flaming cars alive and sent right away to neighbouring hospitals. Nine people at least were saved from the burning bus safely.

The police official added that it took the rescue personnel a number of hours to put out the fire.

The Motorway Police established an emergency crisis centre per the direction of IG Khalid Mahmood.

At nine o’clock at night, the doomed sleeper bus departed Lahore for Karachi.

There were two drivers on board the bus, according to sources at the bus company. At Sukkur, every employee had to be replaced. There were 24 people on board, two of them were travelling to Hyderabad and the other 22 to Karachi.
