(Infosette News) The Muharram-ul-Haram Chand 2022, which will usher in the new Islamic year, 1444 AH, was not visible to the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee on Friday.
This means that Youm-e-Ashura will be celebrated on August 9 and Muharram will begin on Sunday.
The meeting was presided over by the Chairman of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, Moulana Syed Muhammad Abdul Khabir Azad, and was held at the Quetta Deputy Commissioner’s office.
“By the decision of the Central Ruet-e-Hilal Committee, made today in Quetta, the federal government in the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony hereby announce that the moon of Muharram-ul-Haram 1444 AH has not been sighted, and thus the 1st Muharram-ul-Haram shall begin on Sunday (July 31),” the statement issued by the Ministry of Religious Affairs and Interfaith Harmony read.
