“We are deeply saddened to inform you that our incredible, fierce, and loving mother has died after a brief battle with cancer,” they said in a statement.

“She was surrounded by her closest family and fought with great strength, leaving us with the certainty of her never-ending joy of living and whatever adventures lay ahead,” they went on to say. “As memorable as she was on screen, she was an even better mother and grandmother.”

The siblings went on to say that their mother’s “zeal and passion for life, her children, grandchildren, and many animals, not to mention her eternal joy of creating, were unparalleled and inspire us to live life to the fullest just as she did.”

They also praised the Moffitt Cancer Center’s “incredible team of doctors and nurses.”

True and Lillie end the statement by thanking Alley’s fans, saying, “We thank you for your love and prayers and ask that you respect our privacy during this difficult time.”

Alley’s Instagram page also posted the statement.

Following the news, Alley’s former costar and friend John Travolta paid tribute to her on social media.

“Kirstie was one of the most special people I’ve ever known. Kirstie, I adore you “He posted it alongside a photo of the late actor. “I’m sure we’ll see each other again.”

On Twitter, Valerie Bertinelli expressed her condolences, writing, “Oh Kirstie, Rest in Peace.”
