The princess of Wales’s brother, James Middleton, is “just about holding it together” as he grieves the loss of his cherished dog, Ella.
James said he would “terribly miss her,” referring to his first dog, a 15-year-old Cocker Spaniel.
James shared the sad news on Instagram with a caption that honored his “dear Ella.”
“It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my dear Ella,” he wrote.
“Ella has been by my side for 15 years, through the best and the worst of times. She will be sorely missed by me.
“Ella had a very brief illness; she passed away in my arms at home and is now interred next to Tilly in the garden. I snapped this picture a few hours before she passed away.
“I’m barely managing to write this, and even though I knew this day would come, it doesn’t make it any easier,” he continued.
Alizee and the dogs will take good care of me at night, my darling Ella.
James provided the following history of Ella&Co. on the website: “My dogs saved me from a really difficult battle with depression a few years ago.
When I crossed over, I embarked on a mission to transform their lives, beginning with their diet, into ones that are equally joyful and healthy as they have transformed mine.
Ella, he said, has had a “huge influence” on his adult life.
Ella was the first dog I ever owned on my own, and she had a significant impact on my adult life, continued James.
