Ismail Tara passes away at age of 73

KARACHI: Renowned Pakistani artist and comedian Ismail Tara has died in Karachi at the age of 73 due to kidney failure.

According to reports, the comedian has been receiving treatment at a private hospital in Karachi for several days. His wife, four kids, and one daughter survive him.

Tara’s son, Sheeraz, has stated that his father’s funeral prayer will be performed tomorrow after Friday prayers. “Funeral prayers will be held at the mountain mosque next to Shaheed Millat Road,” he added.

Ismail Tara, best known for his iconic part in the Pakistani serial Fifty Fifiy, has appeared in numerous theatre plays, television shows, and local films. On ARY Digital, he also presented the conversation show “Lyari King Live.”

Meanwhile, Sindh Governor Kamran Tessori extended his condolences on the comedian’s death. Sindh Governor said in a statement that Tara was instrumental in the success of Fifty Fifty.

“His services in comedy will always be remembered,” Kamran Tessori remarked, praying for the deceased’s forgiveness.

Tariq Teddy, a well-known stage performer and comedian, died on Saturday in Lahore after a lengthy illness. He was 46. His brother confirmed the death of the well-known commercial theatre comedian.

Teddy was admitted to the PKLI [Pakistan Kidney and Liver Institute] eight days ago and has been in the intensive care unit ever since.

His passing sparked outpourings of grief from the theatre community, politicians, and others.
