According to local media reports, the municipal authority’s building control department conducted an overnight raid and sealed the mall. Despite multiple warnings, officials maintained that no precautions were taken to prevent a fire from erupting.

CDA officials claimed to have issued several notices to the iconic mall’s management to ensure safety measures following the October inferno, but mall officials ignored them.

Officials also stated that no repairs were made to the multiple tower mall’s damages caused by the massive fire.

Interestingly, the CDA’s action comes just hours after Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and Azad Kashmir Prime Minister Sardar Tanveer Ilyas exchanged heated words during the Mangla dam ceremony.

Following the latest action, the AJK premier’s spokesperson accused the federal government of having ‘ill intentions’ in order to ‘politically victimize’ the mall owners.
